37 horses died at the Santa Anita racetrack in California in 2019.
Horseracing kills horses and jockeys from broken necks and legs,
from barn fires, from secret sabotage by gamblers betting on the
opposition. Horsesare shipped to and fro, without any real freedom.
Factors include obstacles left on the track, the condition of the track
ground, the whipping of exhausted horses who have given their all, etc.
Horse racing like greyhound racing is a form of slavery in which
confinement, spurs gouging their sides, whips of their feet and
bodies, cruel bits which give them painful bloody mouths,
drugging occur.
When a dog breaks his leg, compassionate humans endeavor to care
for him or her. The fact that caring for horses with broken legs is
more expensive is no reason to kill the horse (deceptively called
putting him down, euthanasia etc.)

after a hideous accident.
