Tonight, at 9pm EST, on the channel called ID or Investigation Discovery, a documentary about the homophobic and brutal murder of Matthew Shepard will be broadcast.
I hope that anyone who reads this will watch this tragic account of the murder, even martyrdom, of a young man who only wanted to love, and be loved, according to the nature God gave him.
I have written several short poems about him. And when those poems were first posted, I was rebuked by an apparently self-appointed Instructor for suggesting (and, in my case, fervently believing) that Matthew is with Christ in Heaven. After suggesting that I had failed to understand Biblical Scripture (although admittedly not believing those Scriptures himself), my Instructor also rebuked me (some three years after the poems about Matthew) for placing a fictive character in Hell, following the tradition of Dante's Divine Comedy. And this lack of logic freed me from the Instructor's baleful influence; the Instructor who believed he had the right to declare that Matthew was not in Heaven, but also believed I had no right to describe a fictive character in hell. The failure of his logic demonstrated to me that the Instructor had nothing to offer that I should take seriously, or even courteously.
But I digress. The main point of this essay is to ask you, if you are reading this, to watch the documentary about Matthew's brutal murder at the hands of homophobic, clodhopping hater-thugs who, although subsequently found guilty, somehow eluded the death penalty they so profoundly deserve. Apparently, the State of Whyoming is not able to either restrain its resident homophobes from assault and murder, or properly sentencing them as they deserve when they are found guilty of murder.
Thank you for your attention to this essay, and to my request to watch the broadcast.

Thank you for commenting. I,
Thank you for commenting. I, too, shall be recording it. I wish the Wyoming Corrections people would compel his two murderers to watch every minute of it, with a quiz to follow---or a severe penalty imposed if they were to fail---but I know that will not be the case. But I am glad to know you will be watching/recording. That particular network has been giving it a heavy advertisement all day.
