Nocturnes: On Our Martian Conquerors' Attitude
The Martians were willing to hear our diplomatic objection
after our forces' defeat. In reply, they pointed in the direction
of the many fields now bearing dead bodies: corpses in these mass graves,
they said, were the only emancipated; the living of us were Mars' slaves.
