Yet [*/+/^] : 27.225 MHz, Some Final Measures; King Solomon's Clever And Protective Ruse

. . .  the honor of kings is to search out a matter.

---Proverbs 25:2

Haters and prudes will try to impose shame upon

my father's first and youthful love---for Jonathan.

Out of their prejudice, they call that love wrong,

seeking to compromise it with perverted shame.

I will not let them trample my father's love song

with all the condemnation that those wretches claim.

Change some pronouns, and title it ". . . Of Solomon":

then give that masterpiece a splendid publication.

Those who embrace and share that love's given nature

will not be deterred by the changed nomenclature;

but will discover in spirit the hidden sense

of my father's most romantic experience,

nor allow it to be swamped in fierce derogation;

but will preserve his verses' happy celebration.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I realize the sonnet form, and some of the contemporary language, are anachronistic; but I do not believe they compromise the honesty of the poem.  The homosexual interpretation of the Song Of Solomon is not original with me; but I arrived at it intuitively, without relying upon scholars' research.
