Author's Notes/Comments: 

Alexei Romanov and Kolya Derevenko:  I believe theirs was one of the great adolescent love stories of the twentieth century, a love story brutally cut short and crushed by the Bolshevik Revolution and Vladimir Lenin's bloodthirsty desire for vengeance upon the Romanovs.  Their beautiful relationship deserved better; of course I have imagined an alternate history for them.
