We work
The way that children do before they know any ‘better’
So self aware that they are oblivious as if it’s just second nature
Breath, play, and know thy self
As if we’ve never been told who we ought to be or ought not to be
Or who we could be if we would be when we should be
We just work
Like slaves in farmers’ fields covering our skin in dust
We harvest each other from the depths of despair and carry ourselves proudly to the loom to be woven together like threads in a tapestry
To build stories
In the silence of our bodies and the pictographic poses of our faces
We give of ourselves so sincerely, purely, as if Christ were watching every movement made
As if we were existence in its simplest form, never saying what will be simply being what we will
And we work
Until we use our words
Move our lips to motion madness that massacres their smiles and take breathes that lie best bellowed between one another
Spilling ourselves into coffee stains on homework
Its just forced communication to fill a word count evaluation and perceive ourselves as percentages
Pieces of what we once were when we worked
Like children who slaved to build stories without words
.
Pieces of what we once were when we worked
Like children who slaved to build stories without words
so smart.
