10. My Only Choice

Aside from quick fixes and so-called magic potions,

Away from the old cliches and outdated notions

I need to find a source of inner strength

Not derived from things kept at arm's length.

I can't rely on what works for the rest -

What may be right for them still fails my test.

I've got to take a stronghold on my life,

Restraining myself from the old temptations,

Restricting myself from such base foundations

That others seek comfort in for a smoother ride

Through life's tribulations to temper its tide.

Finding strength somewhere else is my only choice.

It's only through that where I'll find my voice.
