my grandfather canes
My grandfather has needed canes to walk since I remember. Of course he has more than one, the fact that is something that he always use made him think that he could look for different types of them. But he is not alone in his search for new, exotic and funny canes. All of his friends and family have given him what they have found in stores or in other countries. From all the canes he has gotten and he has received, there are some that are very interesting. He has one that can be disassembled in four pieces and then be assembled again. There’s another that looks like a gun in the top of the cane, he don’t use that one very often. One of them has a sword inside of it, maybe he never uses it but it looks amazing. There’s this one with a bottle inside where he puts alcoholic drinks, I wonder why he uses this one very often. And also one with an integrated lamp, he likes to spot things with the light of it when is dark. He have some of wood, others made with metal or plastic. He have black canes, brown canes, white canes, well he have a lot of canes. And since he started getting new canes, he has also lost some. There was a time when he was walking near a church and he noticed something on one of the statues of the saints, my grandfather remembered that specific saint with a cane in his hand, but the statue didn't had one, and his hand looked like if he was made with one, so he concluded that someone had stolen the cane. My grandfather put the cane he was using in that moment in the hand of the statue. Nobody ask him why, everybody understood that he wanted to do a good deed. Some of the canes he has lost don’t have a big story about how they were lost. Anyway, my grandfather collects all those canes just for fun. He don't get too attached to material things, he knows there are more important things as the family and the friends. He knows that things come and go, but he continues in the search for new canes with different styles because he likes to discover new and rare canes to make his need of using one into something more interesting, in some way he is showing us that you can make simple things seem funnier.
