My Grand Father’s Glasses
My grandfather’s glasses have been with him for as long as I can remember. They are black and round and its glass is as thick as it can get. . Those glasses have seen so much of life, I even say that the glasses are older than me because there is a picture in my house where my grandfather is holding my older brother Daniel weeks after he was born , and yes the black rounded glasses are there with him. The glasses represent wisdom and the intellectual man he was always been. It is weird the Sunday my grand father doesn’t comment about a new book he has read, or news’s or magazine article he finds interesting. It’s amazing how I realize that the glasses have become great part of my image of him. Those glasses have been through a lot. They have been through moments of joy for example the day my mother was born, and even the day of his wedding. They have also been through the tough times, perhaps when a close friend past away or when his own father and mother died. But of what I’m certain is that the man behind the glasses has accomplish a lot. Those glasses have traveled the world. They have visited Europe, the United States and Asia He was seen his true love through out those glasses, and tell of stories about my grandmother when they dated. I really can’t think of him with out the glasses. Once I asked him, if he would ever consider using contact lenses or getting an eye operation. He only says he is already use to his glasses, and that he will stay the same till the end of his days. And to be honest it’s true, I would consider him a stranger if I ever saw him with out them. He is even proud of them and has them clean and shiny all of the times. Once the glasses where broken in what my grandfather recalls as the worst day of his life. He was doing some exercise when suddenly the glasses that could have appear that were attached to his face fell, and the glass was broken. My grandfather has for about two days almost blind. After this incident he has spare glasses in the house. Maybe the glasses had made my grandfather part of who he is, but at last I realize one thing is fore sure, even with out the glasses he will still be the smartest man in the world for me.
