Listen to the Radio

You listen to the radio,

Hear the heart wrenching ballads

And wonder it the feeling is real,

Could your heart really shatter;

Break apart so harshly

That years pass by as you pick up the shards

Years later, you listen to the radio

That very song you questioned,

wails through the stereo

And you realize,

There is no question, that feeling is real,

That feeling is so raw it burns and scratches.

You stay in the car, long after the song ends

The car is off, no sound can be heard

And yet the lyrics, so heart wrenching and real keep on.

You return to that moment,

Pain shattering through you, tearing you to pieces,

Making you feel as you once did

So you start the car,

Realizing the arduous task of rebuilding your heart,

Is that of many, and many survive, rebuild and continue

Because the next song on the radio plays

And the joy flows through you as the unbelievable is sung about love again.
