Black Blossoms

Black blossoms rise and wilt

Within the span of seconds,

Painted with splotches of scarlet

That drip from dark petals,

Falling to the cracked earth

From whence they have sprung.

Time here has broken,

The clocks will never tick.

The silence is deafening in

It's own resonation,

Concentric ripples

That ring out silently,

Seen but not heard.

The land is always the same

And yet it changes constantly.

Never shall two structures

Ever be the same as when

Vision has left and returned.

The wasteland knows no life

Other than the singular flowers

Born from the broken ground.

Triumphantly, they grow.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Was reading some Wallace Stevens earlier, I got inspired.

You have no idea how close

You have no idea how close you came to describing Can-Ka No Rey. The field of roses that stands before The Dark Tower. A wasteland where time is broken and the silence is unnerving. Great write .

Thank you!

I always thought black flowers would have been more fitting.

Yep.

A very long time ago, though. I'll have to re-read it one of these days again, probably sometime soon.

You are awesome!! If you couldn't tell that's my favorite book series. Sadly very few others I know have read it so I am always glad to hear somebody else has read them.

It was fairly obvious, yes, and thank you! Me too. I don't think I've ever met anyone else who has.
