concrete currents

"concrete currents"

city bends around midday heat:
air shimmering above tarmac rivers

I trace graffiti tongues—
kanji strokes, arabesco curves, creole gloss
each flourish a diaspora of longing

footsteps sync with tramlines’ hum
voices overlap—electric, urgent, borrowed
conversations stitched into neon seams

beneath skyscraper fibre-optic veins
I carry my own accent:
a push between sirens
searching for a street-light poem

Fabulous

This made me do my happy seat dance. When I like a poem I do a little, "I like that" wiggle.

Loved the images of the kanji strokes, arabesco curves, creole gloss.

I admit to having to look up some references, which I love to do. Creole gloss ?

Searching for a streetlight poem. Great ending

So happy to find a poet to follow.

That is gladdening news. Some

That is gladdening news. Some have that reaction when eating. As for me its more of an upper shoulder/torso shiver.

The gloss refers to that little spark or sheen in speech when in this instant the creole peeks and seeps through into an otherwise flawless accent. I guess it's a kind of feature for bilinguals and multilinguals. Exotic or just a hint of, is probablly the most understandable descriptor. Thank you so much for gracing this page.
