What’s a decade here and there?
Perhaps a lot if you’re past 50.
People live longer these days, so
a spritely 70 is meant to be
acceptable, looked forward to.
If you get past the wrinkles
and the short term memory loss
remember to share your secret
youth’s fountain is found in both
the realm of heart and mind
Peace with self and adjusted life goals
gather round like-minded spirits and
bring to the table what’s available
banish from thought what’s undesirable.

I think this is very good
I think this is very good advice. My sense of identity separated from my parents' oppresive shadow during my senior year, and on July 10th, 1976, the separation was completed; ironically, in the month of our nation's two hundredth anniversary of independence. And just as the country groped to organize itself over several years, so I have spent decades to do so. But I am more what I wanted to be, in the summer of 1976, than I was at that time. and I consider this to be answered prayer.

Breaking free from the oppressive shadow of your parents and embarking on a path of self-realization is a remarkable achievement.
