A Ray of Friendship
Sunlight streams through my open window,
Golden hues of various shades,
Sharing its warmth with the coldest corners,
Preventing the dark that must soon invade.
Attempting to catch a beautiful sunbeam,
I raise a hand to bathe in its light,
Such is the friendship that is extended
Across the miles, though far from sight.
A friend is like the sun to a heart's dark corners
Lighting the shadows with warmth and smiles,
Consistent yet free as the rays of that sunbeam
Ever sharing it's sunshine all the while.
Though the sun is not always present,
On it's return you can always depend.
And as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow,
So, too, is the steadfastness of a true friend.
Lucky are we who have felt this friendship,
Strong and sure as that magnificent star
Whose rays reach out and share its sunlight,
No matter how distant or how far.
You can never hold a ray of sunshine.
You can only enjoy its warmth and light.
But know that in your darkest hours,
The sun will soon come to make life bright.
