And I...

Folder:
When Hearts Speak

I gaze out toward the endless span of horizon

as the sun slowly splashes its mass into the sea,

splattering tye dye streaks over the darkening sky...

and I miss...

the colors of your love.

The ocean breeze whips through my hair

sending ebony curls of tangled silk skybound,

each tendril waving a sad goodbye to the day

and I wish...

we were saying hello.

The flowing tide laps its seafoam around my feet

each ebb burying my toes in the wet sifting sand,

while tiny crabs scurry for the safety of the rocks

and I wonder...

if you're safe and warm tonight.

The moon creeps out from behind pillowy clouds

and signal the stars to come out and play,

bathing the deserted beach in a luminous glow

and I remember...

the light you brought into my life.

The minutes turn to hours as I walk along the shore

as the seagulls soar on the evening's last flight,

their cries echo loudly across the water

and I sigh...

as I whisper your name to the wind.
