My father

My father who was so strong is now dying.

He has cancer and I can't stop crying.

But for his sake, I must be strong.

He's become feeble and he won't live very long.

As I hold his hand, tears come to my eyes.

It's going to tear me apart when he dies.

What it all comes down to is that I love this man.

I'm going to make his last days as pleasant as I can.

He took care of me when I was a child and now I'm returning the favor.

The relationship between a father and son is special and should be savored.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is a fictional poem. My father doesn't really have cancer.
