A dark rewrite of the Christmas classic, Silent Night
Wanted to write something different to shed light on what effects so many but is still a silent issue all too often ignored until it is too late
Violent night
Most unholy night
Nothing is calm
When the future ain't bright
Beware him so cruel
To mother of his only child
Adult acts the unholy infant
Not much about him tender or mild
Tonight, peace he shakes to pieces
To pieces
Tonight
Peace he shakes
Violent night
Most unholy night
His wife does quake
In his drunken sight
Dreaming only of someday
Running so very afar
Where in glory she could
Breath freely and sing
Alleluia!
In Christ, a new woman is born
In Christ, a new woman is born
Violent night
Oh unholy night
Son of God
Won't you shine the light of your Heavenly love?
Protect her precious face
From his deadly blows
With the dawn of your redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord
To a better life for her
Give birth
Jesus, Lord
To a better life for her
Give birth

I applaud, and agree with,
I applaud, and agree with, your assertion that this dire problem needs to be addressed---loudly and relentlessly---because it happens too much and too often (well, even one incident is one too much). But, although I agree with you on the dire seriousness of it, I think the attempt to "rewrite" one of the holiest hymns of one of the year's two Holiest seasons, is a disrespectful toward the hymn and the season. Just my opinion, and I do applaud bringing this horrible social problem to the fore of your readers attention; that is most commendable.
