i sort and looked to find a friend

many shadows had come and gone

but in each, i found a fiend

and i knew i would find none

for i gave my all to find one

but each time, it was thrown back

not the least bit appreciated

and i knew i'd never be enough

many times i stared out at the stars

hoping my wishes would come true

i had looked everywhere

i had looked everyday

i had searched the world

but i had never searched within me

and when i did

i found a friend who had never left me

and the true friend i found,

i did in me,

and it was me.
