My eyes deceive me,

These eyes of stone,

That saw the sunrise,

Long past gone,

That dwelt in passion,

And then in pain,

Only to close,

And die again,



You saw me then,

You drank me whole,

Devoured my feeling,

My heart you stole,

My eyes once saw,

Then you took that away,

Now I darkness,

I strive to stay,



‘Move on’ you say,

I cannot believe,

That even though blind,

You ask me to breathe,

Without you beside me,

You tell me to walk on,

But I fall and stumble,

And die before long,



And listen to the song,

The song of fear,

That kept me going,

Past ‘our’ year,

Without my vision,

And without your lies,

I saw the sunset,

Within my mind,



I’ve closed these eyes,

That once held beauty,

Because of you,

It was my duty,

To obey my master,

To love as you said,

But without true love,

True sight is dead.
