Let me grab my pipe & tell ya'll a story 'bout dis dame
it was so long ago I almost forgot her name
'Amazing Grace', yeah dats it, now I rememba
cawz out of all da women I knew, her hands were da most tenda
yep, she used to work down der on 5th & Kirk
you rememba, da place where all dem fast guls worked
she was good, I rememba she could blow a horn all night long
& not the kind you dink of when you dink of Louie Armstrong
she was da best at her job, she was da one we all talked about
she could do what she wanted, cawz she had da most clout
she was beautiful, considered a queen like she wore a crown
da law & politicians was in her pocket, she ran da damn town
Anyway on a stormy summers night she had some new clientele
shawt pudgy man, all wet from da rain, he looked like hell
he stomped up to the bar and requested Grace
der was someth'n wrong wit him we could see in his face
da bartenda summoned Grace so she could see what he looked like
she had to decide if he was worth her time tonite
she walked downstairs in a blue dress made of denim
we all placed side bets to see if she would do him
bets were placed bets were won
she surprised us all when she said, "this would be fun"
she was by far much taller dan dis man
why she was going to entertain him we couldn't understand
she took his hand & off dey went up the flight of stairs
a lot of us fellas jealous didn't dink it was fair
'bout a good ten minutes went by, it seemed
& den it happened we heard Grace scream
we all ran upstairs & busted in da door without a care
da window was open, she was alone blood was everywhere
da shawt lil'pudgy man jumped out da window fled w/o a trace
he done beat Grace pretty bad & took a razor to her face
since I was da officer on duty I had to question her & all
she said when he pulled his drawers down she saw he was small
she said she started giggling when she saw how small he was
he started beat'n and cutt'n and thats all she told us
as time passed we caught da shawt pudgy man in another city
we brought him back to our town & found him guilty
he was put away in prison for the rest of his life
as for Grace she looks so bad she couldn't pay a man
to be his wife
since he messed up her looks her job she couldn't keep
she got into a new line of work sweeping the city streets
she is lucky to be alive & only to be scarred on the face
God saved her life, that how she became known as Amazing Grace
No doubt, without question

with a moral
now I understand
"A bird in hand, is better than two in the bush"
Two - being a multiple
material wealth
the bush being the network of society tied
to that wealth
One - in hand, being the freedom to live another
day and count blessings
Nice
Much Respect, One Love
this poem was simply :*)
amazing and i enjoyed :*b
reading it ciao for now :*S.
WOW! I loved how you flipped the title and everything,
this was really good story telling, reminds me of the
way my best friend writes, he would love this...good
work RaiLa!
Oh wow this story had me holding my breath. What a tragically poignant tale this was, twisted as it is. I picked this title out because I love to sing this song and I was wondering what was in store for me. I have never been disappointed yet. I see that you have really been puttin in work, bustin the poetry out right and left this week, and this, my friend, is a shining example of your profound way of expression, and your way of keeping your viewers rapt at attention. I love it!
