Will someone please give
me the definition of
being black?
Will someone tell me
who is it that judges
this and what criteria
they use?
Is it what side of town
I live on?
Is it what school I
graduated from?
Is it how proper or improper
I speak?
Do I have to know how to
play basketball?
Do I have to know how to rhyme?
Does my church have to have
a screaming pastor that wears a
lot of jewelry?
Do my parents have to be divorced
or married?
Does my father have to be in prison?
What if one of my parents is white
and one is black?
Do I have to live in the ghetto
or the projects?
Do I have to know the difference
between the ghetto and the projects?
Uh, is there a difference?
Is it necessary that I own a veleour
jump suit for everyday or the week
or is one enough?
What if my genitalia doesn't reflect
sterotypes and myths?
What if I don't eat fried chicken?
What if I don't have high cholesterol
or diabetes?
Does it matter what kind of music I
listen to?
Does Lenny Kravitz count? He's black.
Is there any black/negro/Afro/African
American qualified to judged another?
oh my gosh... thank you! Someone who finally understands why when people ask me if I'm black or white, I say "I'm human!" I'm mixed, but either way, I'm sick of it! I really wanna send this to some of my friends! thanx again! Your work is awesome!
This is a very good question, who's black? Personally, most people who aren't white will usually be treated as black people...Lenny well he's a brother doing something else...I'm tired of being judged like that just coz I don't always fit the sterotype...urban gear, hip hop...why can't a brother just dig some jazz or something like that?I hear you tho and good read.
No, Lenny Kravitz does not count. He is not 'Black'. Just kidding. Very nice piece. Great work. Seriously, neither Lenny Kravitz nor Lisa Bonet count as Black. What was the definition again?
Very nice.. and a hot topic for me..but I'll hold back on my nationality preaching.
“I’m lighter than the black crayon and darker than the white crayon. I’m the color of the sky, between dusk and dawn. I'm a half cup of coffee with an equal amount of cream. I’m chocolate & vanilla ice cream on a hot summer day. I’m the daughter of my mother and father, I say!" written by Mae West Johnson (my mother).
