To a Materialist

Materialist

My friend, my castles are mine.

keep your firmness and your solidarity,

and let me stand here unwavering in my own right.

I've heard your stories, your tales of reality,

and I will keep my own.  Life

isn't one vision or one faith.  Hold out

your answers, and I'll keep nothing

from denial.  The clouds

and earthy depths are not

that far apart.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I was thinking about castles... and I'm not sure which one of these people I am yet.

No one’s commented on this before? Incredibly written. The title had me expecting something else, something more lengthy and critical, but I enjoy coming into a poem and receiving something completely different. The castles imagery was exquisite and your comment at the end made me think which person I have become.
