I wish I could control fire,
and make it burn and swirl
through figures and forms,
bending and twirling at a whim.
I wish that fire dazzled,
held your eyes and mine,
and thrust out an answer
for everything.
And yet I wish
for nothing of the sort,
and only sight no answer
in these words of mine;
I know these fires burn,
but still no burning
can dust away
this separation.
