Story of my life and the same
chapter keeps on rewriting itself.
Alarm clock wakes you up on
the daily, same time, same rhyme.
Arising to no light, both
outside & in your mind,
click on a light but still
are blind to what’s around.
Counting down the days but
each is the same, with a sip
of coffee & no one to blame.
Skies are bright as the day,
but cloudy days follow you, nothing
but the site of rain, falling upon you.
With each step you take, the
deeper it gets, setting in
you so you never forget.
Miss your bus, late for work,
phone battery died; working overtime
to forget the pain lying ahead.
Darkness stalks you back to your
empty house as its dinner for
1 again, rain coming down,
tapping on the window, providing you
with the only company you can get.
Brush those teeth so no one can see that
smile & get yourself ready for bed,
a new day is about to start; set
your clock and fade away, who says
this is not a dream from the start.
