The jester in the streets
Had just finished performing
His mad mimicking mime
His olden Midnight Muse
Wearing a silly linen hat
Like that of a red and white dragon
He lived in a fine suite
With carpets and cherry tapestries
One belonging to the damsel
That powerful witch of substance
The lines in his mind
Become longer and longer
At every passing minute
And he decides no more will he
Dance upon the streets
Of a masked and mocking society
A highly significant and
A highly significant and thought-provoking portrait that says as much about society as it does about the tragic character on the street. With moving and well-crafted images, you cleverly mix the sad and the absurd: the hat "Like that of a red and white dragon" has a bitter humor when "The lines in his mind/ Become longer and longer/ At every passing minute" (Amazing metaphorical language!)
The twist that jumps out at the end is that perhaps he's not the farcical one; perhaps those "normal" people of the world passing him by are the twisted actors in our human drama.
A brilliant commentary on the roles we play.
