Dear Mom


I will be sure to remind you

never to order Starbucks' coffee,

because it hurts your stomach,

if you will be sure to remind me

never to go to any social events.

I never fail to embarrass myself.

This bespeaks a general process of mutuality that is, symbolically, far more than the mere sum of coffee and social events.  There is some keen insight in this poem, just below the surface of the lines.
