V--- gasps in frightful amazement.
Mr. Hermit turns his head but instead
of straining his brow and shouting
"Damn you, get your filth gone away!"
like he will always do with humans,
he is tantalized by the stunning girl.
I realized this is a series
I realized this is a series and I'm not reading the poems in order, but this pivotal moment was still a joy to read: composed with evocative style and touching realism. Wonderful.
