Pel Pal and Butch
1.
Pel Pal
I am trying to tell a story
'bout a unique and fascinating bird.
He hasn't many a worry,
just a tale I would like to share.
He will do just about anything
for a fish, big or small.
His pouch is for storage
hold'g tre times his stomach size all.
You'll see him flying low
flapping and gliding in unison,
O'er the land and water he'll show.
When he knows what he wants done
he dives head first to catch his catch.
He sometimes socializes, but,
when he does...it's no match.
He's too kind, curious, and generous
and will be tamed by the hand of man.
So please don't tease, confine or feed.
Remember he's a bird, he's a Pelican

Butch
I am trying to tell a story
'bout a unique and fascinating man.
His many accomplishments fear no worry.
'Tis just a tale of one-half life span.
He will do just about anything
to fulfill the wishes of others.
His heart is for storage
hold'g three times plus his body size.
He served his country, flying high
o're the dark enemy sky.
He was raised with the hand of God,
Being he is a preacher's son.
A family man of many years,
an officer of the builder's code
he manages without fears
returning each night to his abode.
Hobbyist, least I say
of his many array.
Model railroads, stained glass,
Bus driver for children in mass.
He always finds time to share a
word or two of encouragement.
His comments and words are as if,
imbedded in cement.
Wandering his hall, you will see
a package of versatility.
Writing poetry in His simple style
Bringing forth images anew.
Your passion, insight and honesty
allowed yet another honor.
You joined the committee
of Arts, Painting and Poetry.
A member of Post Poems you are valued
by many others on this site.
A member of society you are treasured
by all who love you, day and night.
Butch, you are a dreamer of simple things.
I am glad to have met you.
As the ways of a pelican,
I see in you the kind and generous, man.
I knew of whom you wrote before you mentioned the "Painting" part. Every time I find a new poet whose work is exceptional or needy of reflection, lo and behold, Butch got there ahead of me. He is indeed a generous man and has helped my esteem many times through the past few months. I appreciate him also and am glad you wrote so well of his attributes. Speaking of which, you're a pretty special person yourself!!
Love,
Jessica
A stiking and blooming
ballad of the heart which,
in its unique use of the
metaphor and poetic imagery
explicates the nature and
yearning in friendship
with a human face!

Linda my friend,
I am truly honored. Don't know what else to say.
Thanks, Butch
