The Atlantic White Caps

High upon the rocks I would

sit and ponder for hours

(allowing the wind to blow

the cobwebs from my brain).

Pole in hand empty of all bait.

Eyes fixed on the white caps

slapping against the rocks

below me.

The misty spray climbing

upward in opposition.

Sunrays dancing upon the

water with the grace

of faeries in the ballet.

Warm winds carrying voices

from the sea to all who

would listen.

Mesmerizing effects near

to hypnotic state

The songs of the ocean.

The strength of the waves.

Are the sirens real?

The WhiteCaps most

definitely...

             surreal.

You vividly portray the sights and sounds of the sea...This is gorgeous. You write "with the grace of faeries in the ballet."

I read your poem Linda, and I am there, feeling the salt spray, hearing the waves rush and slap, smelling the ocean. So relaxing, And that wind however vicariously, blew me away. Super poem. Well done . Fleur

This poem was good, very strong imagery etc. Also the play on words at the end (real/surreal) was a great way to end.

There are some really beautiful and evoking lines here...that aid the reader to conjure up the actual sensations of sitting and watching those white caps.... Great flair and control , Linda... ~!!! 'The misty spray climbing upward in opposition. Sunrays dancing upon the water with the grace of faeries in the ballet. Warm winds carrying voices from the sea to all who would listen.' Ahhh yes.... the sheer bliss of this simple activity. Thanxs for reminding me of such joys in life, i have almost forgotten them. ;p
