Doesn't mean that I'm thug

I am a human being

Who's in need of love.



Just because i have money

Doesn't mean that I took it

Just because you are a cop

Doesn't mean that you aren't crooked.



Just because I'm a Black man

Doesn't mean that I gang bang

Even though I live in the ghetto

I still don't have to slang cane.





Just because you put me down

Doesn't mean that I can't do this

Because I have no White friends

You label me as prejudice.



Just because I love one person

Doesn't mean that I love them all

I am human you know

With a dark side just like y'all.

If I became a lawyer

And changed my name to Ben

Or if I became a doctor

You would try to be my best friend.



But when I was struggling in the streets

Living life in a sin

Trying to do whatever to get out the ghetto

Where were you then?



So just because I despise you

Doesn't mean that I despise the rest

And just because I'm Black

Doesn't mean that I have to settle for less."
