Clearing the ice which were sparkles of light
Glistening in the day of dread
Headed to work and only wishing
I could stay home in bed instead.
Frozen fingertips from cold dew exposure
Nose hair frozen and standing on end.
Chilling the effect as the vapors arise
The nostrils sting with the breath taken in.
Cheeks are dry and cold but feel hot
My body temp has no direction
Whether to be cold on the outside
Or to be warm from compensation within.
Playfully thinking of beaches in summer
To tell my mind it is what it is not.
Reality hits when the wind blows harder
And all the warm memories quickly stop.
Cold bright crystals slapping my face
With tiny pulsating fingers of pain
When the wind whips my hair all around
And exposes my ears to the solid rain.
The bed is calling me harder and harder
My mind is pulling me there too.
Better go back and start the day over
There is always tomorrow with things to d
