"Oxymoronic Own Thing"

by Jeph Johnson

She said
she wanted
the type of man
who did his
"own thing"

-a man who wouldn't
try to mold himself
into the vision
he hoped
she hoped
he'd be.

Now follow me...following myself

His "own thing,"
unfortunately, was
molding himself
into the vision
he hoped
she hoped
he'd be.
