"Covert Solitude"

by Jeph Johnson

Armed with covert solitude
Her bullets of blanketed poise
Misfire so wildly in this dispute
My surroundings are destroyed
I analyze her attitude
By actions she's employed
The subtlety of snow in June
She clamors without noise
And life she lives nearly as true
As any life I've enjoyed
It is all that I can do
To try to avoid
Patterns encouraging deja vu
When I hear her voice
