distain abounds
while pain surrounds me
back from deep downtown
my expression reads depression
while riding home the long way
on the bus alone. the driver and me
splashed through the
flooded puddles
that covered the street
I spied outside behind
more than a ray of light;
a child who smiled delightfully
a son who shown so bright
memory like lightning
told me I wasn't right
don't bother, no father
could foster him despite
his love for you
your love for him
and his mother
