Heaven's Star

Folder:
June 2002 Poetry

I’ve always loved to look,

at the night sky.

Stars shimmering.

I had never seen something,

so beautiful.

Yet none of the stars,

were that bright.

There was no star,

brighter than another.

I lie on the grass,

with my hands,

upon my stomach,

feeling you kick,

and imagine,

just how beautiful,

you will be.

Night and day pass by,

it’s time to go,

and time for you,

to enter this world.

You were so beautiful,

smooth skin,

soft coos.

Filled with so much life,

yet so much sickness too.

There was nothing we could do,

but be with you the little time,

that you had left.

I held you close to me,

and stared into your eyes,

just like your father’s.

You took your last breath,

and then you were gone.

Not long after that,

I lie on the grass again,

and felt as though,

a part of me was missing.

I stare at the stars,

and notice one,

I had never seen before.

It was brighter than the others.

And I finally knew,

that you were ok.

My little Angel,

my little baby,

Heaven’s Star.
