Christmas Wish

Folder:
2001 Poetry

Christmas time is here,

I walk through stores,

and see the excitement,

in children's eyes.

They know Santa will be coming soon,

and they'll sit together,

by the fire.

Open gifts with their families.

All together,

celebrating and smiling.

I ponder on the times,

when I was happy,

during this holiday season.

Now I see smiling families together,

and wonder if they realize,

just how lucky they are.

Not having the hurt and pain,

during this joyous time.

With a broken family.

Torn apart for reasons,

I don't even know.

Traveling back and fourth,

between parents.

Feeling so alone,

it drives you crazy.

Wishing for a family,

that was together.

And knowing this Christmas wish I make,

will never come true.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this on 12-13-01. I think it kinda explains itself. It just sucks having a divorced family during the holidays.

i am so thankful that my parents are still together cuz i really wouldnt know what to do if they are separated or something!!! the poem successfully expressed what a child from a broken family feels whenever christmas is around!!!
