2001 Poetry

I once knew a girl

named Sandra D

who threw her burdens

in the sea.

~

She must have thought

the waves would whisk

all the pain away

soft yet brisk.

~

But the pain remained

day after day

of the love she yearned for

far away

~

She loved him so

but wouldn't admit it

As she saved up money

to buy a plane ticket.

~

She was confused of all

her feelings inside

So much that sometimes

she just wanted to hide.

~

But the solution you see

isn't to hide

But to enjoy life

as a roller coaster ride.

~

It's got it's ups and downs

turns and twists.

And problems don't just disappear

in the oceans mist.

~

Although it would be nice

to hide away

You'll still have to return

to the world someday.

~

Confusion is normal

We all feel it too.

Just to let you know

I'm here for you.

~

I know that you love him

it's a feeling you can't hide.

But don't try and change it

don't set it aside.

~

It's a natural feeling

And I know it seems scary.

But just think of all

the love you have for Jerry.

~

It'll get you through your darkest hour

guide you to the day.

And now this poem is over

cause I've said what I needed to say.
