Exit Missing...

The sand had always been
what she loved about him
and now that the desert has vanished
The granules haunt her dreams
Such smooth demeanor
What confident eyes
to display the measure of curiosity
that I managed to catch a glimpse of through the damp, intricate castles
that he left, carefully built in symmetrical shapes on the beach.
Beauty in the way that he would silently dream wild
and stare off into the sun
Only my heart was large enough to hold and store
all his thoughts.
Not expecting the Tsunami
that was sure to come.
I gave in, opening up my towel
to absorb the sunshine
and grasp on to this addictive warmth
closing my eyes suddenly,
exposed , yet secure,
I felt no fear.
And within this never ending moment, he made his escape
taking his time
watching my face with every step he took backwards.
Desperately needing to observe my vulnerability
smiling foolishly at the scene he'd created.
Once the setup is complete,
the waves begin to turn,
tossing about all existence, and shadowing
my once beautiful horizon
Now covered in darkness baring faint lightning streaks
I see nothing.

I only feel the distant breeze
and smell the ocean's sweet salt.
