Lyrics

A young girl looking in the mirror

She doesn’t like what she can see

“Momma who do I take after

Who made me look so ugly?”

Crying in her heart as she looks at magazines

Page after page she turns

Wishing she was someone who she couldn’t be

Her tears must be on fire cuz it burns

And I know that little girl so well

When I see my reflection she stares back at me

Buying every beauty product on the shelf

Not realizing that only she doesn’t see her own beauty

Mirror, Mirror, show me a rose

I wanna see what’s in the magazine

I have one wish I wish the most

Show me a beauty queen

A young woman looking at her reflection

She doesn’t like what she can see

“Honey, put down the sports section

And take just one look at me”

Crying when she finds his magazines

Page after page she turns

Wishing she had that model’s body

And maybe he would look at her

And I know that young woman so well

When I see my reflection, she stares back at me

Spending time and money making up herself

Hoping he’ll see her true beauty

Mirror, Mirror, show me a rose

I wanna see what’s in the magazine

I have one wish I wish the most

Show me a beauty queen

A young woman on her wedding day

Takes a quick glance at herself

She used to see that little girl’s face

Just like everybody else

But now she only sees one thing

As she looks in the mirror today

She doesn’t care what’s in magazines

Because she knows he loves her this way

Mirror, Mirror, I see the rose

I don’t care what’s in the magazines

Today my husband will make a toast

Because I’m who he wants me to be

You have an amazing gift, a powerful gift with words that this or any other website has no right to show. Each of your poems are revelations into a real part of your life. Instead of the fake poems where someone takes a stance on a position they have never been in, you reveal your weakness but only show strength. Keep it up, the world needs more real poets like you.
