Daddy's Lullaby

Folder:
Daddy

The time sure flies by

You’ve been gone for such a long time

First it was the first year

Now it’s already been nine

Seems like only last night

You were singing me lullabies

Assuring me things would be alright

Hushing my childish cries

Then my whole world crashed right down

In the half a blink of one eye

Now you’re no longer around

To hush me with your lullaby

Daddy, I’m all grown up now

A young woman moving on

But that child you’d remember

Is still inside burning strong

You won’t walk me down the isle

When I say my wedding oaths

You won’t hold my first child

And watch her first stages of growth

Daddy I’m all grown up now

And I need your lullaby

To dry the tears across my brow

And hush my childish cries

Author's Notes/Comments:

I would give anything to hear my father sing "Daddy's Little Girl" again to me!!

This is a very good poem. It is touching and sentimental to me. Nice work

I love this poem it's very beautiful and it's making me cry. I dont ever think I will be able to understand why parents cant see how important they are to thier children.
