Over an oak bed he bends
to kiss his toddler delicately
after brushing away stray hair
and he stands there after
watching his beloved child
giggle, roll, breathe
from leaping out of consciousness
into grass leaves to embrace

I was just listening to Tom Waits Army Ants, which talks about praying mantis eating the head off its mate.
