Why does poetry have to be abstract to be appreciated?
Why can’t I just say, I cried because I was frustrated
Do I have to say, my emotion levitated and my eyes precipitated with thunderous devastation
Shaking the tectonic plates of my mind
Yet there was no Richter scale for this kind of earthquake
I sigh…and vibe of invisible stimulus
Sliding the pyramid of rhyme sequence
Paving minds with hieroglyphics
As you the slave to my delivery walk like an Egyptian to decipher it
If my content is plain but my delivery different
Will I be viewed as an over zealous politician
Or a poet without poetic instincts
Does a poet always need to have animated fantastic descriptions?
Guess if you’ve got a face for radio
You need a mouth like television
Unless your style is just …different
There is no rehab for this intermittent condition
That I diagnose as stealth bomber lyricism
Though many cripple under the weight of myopic cynicisms
That undo the work of complex witty lines
I rate criticism as antibiotic idolatry
For this here plateau

This is a really good poem...Pointing out alot of stuff people dont think about... I think to make a poem good yoou need to sometimes use more dsecriptive words yet at times more simple...It jsut depends on what your writting...

I like your piece and I agree with you in principle,but though extreme simplicity works as well,sometimes another chosen word or words for metaphor depending on the chosen style of the writer works better for them. After all,we write for ourselves first. Each generation has their own given style or accept norm of style and format. There are those out there who at times are too lazy to pick up a dictionary to see what a word means in that in reading a piece they liken the accessability of understanding much like one would use those crib note books to explain the great classics.I'm willing to bet many reading your piece here would find many words that they do not know the meaning of, yet your choice of them ties the piece together because it is your givn style and choice. We could say Jack and Jill went up the hill to get a pail or water or say Jack and Jill rose to the occasion to pursue the elevated challenge, carrying the required containment vehicle which at their time of choice would quench their thirst. It's all a matter of semantics..
