'You're a flower,' my mother always said to me
How vague she was, for if I were, which flower would I be?
'Don't speak with your mouth full,' my father always said
How not, I thought, my mouth was full of sweet words from my head
'You ask too many questions, child,' I was always told
But answers cost them nothing, with the knowledge that they hold
I didn't understand them, how limited they were
Elaboration was a sin, and questions were a scare
i LIKED THIS WRITE. I COULD RELATE TO IT. I DON'T THINK PARENTS FULLY THINK OUT WHAT THEY'RE SAYING AS DO MANY PEOPLE. THE PROBLEM IS WE EXPECT OUT PARENTS TO BE PERFECT, BUT OBVIOUSLY THEY'RE NOT AND SHOULDN'T BE HELD TO SUCH STANDARDS.
wow,, big words.but i do love the poem--it shows that parents are not as wise as they appear to be!!!-or seem to think they are :). as much as we love them, its kinda scary to think that we are now wiser than our parents!-sometimes lol. but i really love gd wrk terri ann :)
this is so good.i think we take our parents for granted. we should talk to them and understand them, as they do us
