Unconditional



A decision has to be made and you ask what I think.

You tell me what it is, and I can feel my heart begin to sink.

The decision is whether to go to the Army or not.

My opinion was what was being sought.

Everything in me screamed, “Don’t go; stay here with me!!!”

But, the only thing I could say was, “You have to do what will make you happy.”

I went home and cried until I couldn’t cry anymore.

The only thing I wished for was that you not a soldier would walk through my door.

I’d answer the door and you’d say,

“I’ve made my decision; I chose to stay.”

By my side you’d forever be.

Loneliness is something we’d never see.

I don’t know the decision, but this I’m sure of,

What I feel for you will never fade; you have my unconditional love.
