Hold Me Now, Oh Please

Ice cubes melting on the side walk

As the drink pours from my hand

The sun squelching down on us

As we both start remembering when

The world seemed peaceful

The weather our only problem

But where do we go right now

When we've finally hit rock bottom

Can the world be good to us now

Are we allowed to hold on to we have

The last securities that don't make us weak

Or are we forced to give them back

The walls have gone up so high

And refuse to back themselves down

Are we supposed to keep on walking

Or let the world spin us around

I take your hand, you take mine back

Where do we go from here

I open my eyes to my fire inside

Everything's far, but you're so near

Hold me now, oh please

Don't ever forsake who I'm meant to be

Strong as the blood that runs through my veins

It's who I am, you'll learn to see

Hold me now, oh please

Just keep the world from hurting me

A continuous fire that's burning deep

That's all I really need

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is one of those "throw all your thoughts together and hope they come out as well as your thinking them" kinda poem.  I don't know what I know, but I must know something...somebody please tell me.
