Your first day of vacation and I've dragged you to the mall
And while your demeanor seems hardly appalled
You're defiantly silent and it's fraying my seams
I'm hemorrhaging humor and I'm ready to scream
Don't pretend or condescend when you'd rather be with friends
But give me credit for at least I get it and wish to make amends
Let me entice you with some device 'cause I'm trying to be so nice
Or buy you that game embracing all blame if that be your price
You shyly shuffled behind me through each boutique
No biting critique though you felt like a freak
Reluctantly responding as I called from the changing room
Or caught in the plume of some pungent perfume
I caught your downcast glance and I long to bridge this rift
Please, lift your sullen spirits by submitting to a gift
Or loan me some moments to sneak off alone
To hopefully get your mum on the phone
To offer some ideas and make it all clear
Some needed relief to ward off the tears
I at once whip around as if on a whim
And plainly proclaim that your bangs needa trim
Then I pull you along to the nearest salon
And before you've been caped I'm already gone
Please, be a good sport if she cuts it too short
Just save your retort for the food court

This is super cute. Yes, the tween years and teen years!! Sometimes it feels just like you are walking a stubborn mule on a leash up a steep mountain.

Thank you very very much! I
Thank you very very much! I know I was kind of a moody tenager. Who knows; Maybe that's partly why I got into writing poetry. It was my way of articulating what I was wresting with. It's funny because I feel like I'm both characters: the pissy teenager and the frustrated adult.
Ah...now I understand why
Ah...now I understand why your works are so seasoned. I thought that you had probably taken writing courses, but if so, you also started very young. Well, there is nothing wrong with always staying young at heart, Peter. From what I see in myself and others, being young at heart actually keeps you physically younger as well.

Thank you very much! Yes, I started writing poetry approximately twenty-five years ago when I was seventeen. The majority of my poems are on my Facebook and my Tumblr. I do kind of forget my age sometimes; It's true. That is until I look at my state ID and then I go, "oh, yeah, right." :P
