This is the heart you can't penetrate
It belongs to the man who's strived to relate
But his joy and his spirit just disintegrate
The ire and fire that inspire his hate
Gone is the sweetness of so long ago
Now the frowns of the people who pity him so
They clasp their denial for they cannot let go
Who ask for a smile and he coldly says 'no'
Where are the long tresses he's grown to resent
His eyes are uncaring and indifferent
The grin is diminished and his humor is spent
He pays no attention to a tearful lament
What was the attraction to which they were drawn
Now nothing remains to gaze upon
He grew so disgusted by how they would fawn
And now that persona is buried and gone
So where is the pleasure and where is the rush
Stifled and silenced in a deadening hush
Just cheap sentiment and unbearable slush
He can't understand why his friends look so crushed
His feelings are burning and bitter to taste
He shatters his past with passionate haste
So broken that no one could possibly paste
Memories he can no longer bear to face
Shying away from those who come near
His warmest expressions have all disappeared
No patience for tears he won't even care
He's really no longer even there

Thank you very very much, SSmoothie. Sorry that I've been absent for so long. These days I don't know quite what to write about. I'm searching for inspiration. It's frequently a woman.

I like some rap lyrics too. I
I like some rap lyrics too. I especially like ones such as those which kind of break from the norm. There's an English rapper named Mike Skinner who records and performs under the stage name "The Streets." I find his work to be very atypical and often poetic.
Thank you very very much! I
Thank you very very much! I want to be writing more poems, but I tend to psyche myself out worrying that I won't like how they turn out or that I'll disappoint everyone.

Jethro Tull comes to mind.

Because of constraints right now
But I know how my stuff is
And it sounds better when I do it.
