Just how does a cell divide?
To stay alive and not have died?
It grows, replicates, splits in two,
Apoptosis happens when it is due.
G One happens so it can grow,
A stop point now, its flaws to show.
Resting, then it prepares for synthesis,
Another stop point, before it forms Sis.
In G Two it grows in preparation,
Make sure it is ready for separation.
Prophase begins, it starts to show,
Signals crossing over and spindles “Go!”
In Metaphase chromosomes start to align,
Another stop to check the design.
In Anaphase, Chromosomes separate,
The Cleavage Furrow acts as a gate,
In Telophase spindles disappear,
Ready to split without a tear.
Ready for meiosis two to begin,
It starts all over with two cells like a twin.
I have been reading poetry
I have been reading poetry for fifty years as of this past April, and I have never seen a poem on that particular subject. And the counter indicates over three thousand six hundred readings of this poem---that speaks far more about it than my poor words can.
