Forty Two Down
Clark Steven Lupton
This is my first day of forty two
I don’t know what it’s like yet, do you?
I’ve been forty two for ten hours
I was hoping I’d acquire super powers
It’s actually a pretty good way to start
It’s better than a paramedic defibbing my heart
To prevent that I went to the gym
My strength is going and my sight grows dim
My knees ache
My back breaks
My man boobs look like they’re fakes
I’m forty two for goodness sakes!
One thing I didn’t expect
My stomach has grown bigger than a ship’s deck
I also have pains in my neck
Death is coming and I know I’ll end up in Heck
My future is one long road
With work and friends so I’ll buy load
Technology and slang will surely change
Others adapt but I think it’s strange
But I’m satisfied with my life so far
The door of opportunity is ajar
Today I’m wishing upon a star
That someone will give me a chocolate bar
