DREAM BOAT

DREAM BOAT

Sleep tip-toed my sinking eyes,

And made me wane into an endless slumber;

How long I dreamt, no one knew!

But it’s a trance that cast its spell.

Traversed miles and slept on Moon!

Quite so chill, I found no sleep;

There was a storm at early morn,

And by day, I found me melt!

Fancied Mars, Moon and Stars!

Across the Universe, far I find;

Fancied, shooting the Stars of night;

Lest I found, me, land on Moon!

Ups and downs, I staggered and tumbled,

Found no means to shelter in;

Had my ‘Dream Boat’ stayed for long,

I’d have reached home in time.

Length and breadth, I wandered; and

The weird trance, made me swoon;

Soon I found myself on board!

And left myself blinking in bed!

Back to bed; and back on mind,

I was bent to realize my trend;

My ‘Dream Boat’ needed, no means to fly!

But made me realize, it’s ‘Green Pastures!’

Floating free; people dare!

Nay not know, what's in store!

Make this world, a compassionate place; and

Stop fancying  'Utopian Heights'!

Author's Notes/Comments:

The writer, as a young boy fancied Moon, Mars and Stars.  All of a sudden he is made to land on moon in his dream boat.  Finally, he realises, it's just 'Green Pastures'. He wants to convey the message, 'what we have at our disposal we need to make use of and enjoy without being too greedy!
